Nature: Residential Design - Delicate interior for an expat couple
Concept: City life could bestressful, especially If you have to travel frequently at work, you would for course hope to relax and enjoy a moment of comfort when you get home, to soothe your nerves amidst the hustle and bustle.
This elegant apartment is home for an expat, an Australian pilot and his wife who station mainly in Singapore for work. The love for simple, chic interior of the couple has inspired the design team to transform this home to a harmonized space for comfortable living without superfluous effects. Among the bright and almost all-white living room, the light grey feature wall helps setting up the cosy mood without being too overwhelming. Next to this feature wall, you will find an interesting cabinet that is full of the owner’s wine collections and all the wine utensils, together with a sleek and cleverly designed ladder, it has become the focal point of the space. This tailor-made cabinet fits perfectly also for the owner’s beloved airplane models and other precious and personal collection, reflecting much of his taste and personality.
As for the layout design, one challenge here for the design team is to accommodate three beds in this two-rooms apartment. In order to keep and emphasize the ambience of the room, the designer has suggested custom-made sofa bed in the living room, and then come up with another idea to tailor a concealed folding bed in the study room, which not only minimize the use of fixed area in the space but also allow the users to enjoy ultimate flexibility, and adjust the layout any time.
